Dr. Joe

Joe has taken countless Tyee at Black Gold over the years,

Note the pink color on the back of the tyee on the right and a little on the other, These fish are fresh in from the open ocean. Bright silver with this pink hue is the first color stage. The longer they are in the inlets of the coast the color changes, including blue, green, brownish and of course at the end of their life cycle they turn black and then head up the rivers to spawn.

Located at the mouth of Rivers Inlet we seldom see dark fish. We get them first, bright and full of fight. Unlike other areas further into the Inlet, catching a Tyee at the mouth is a true challange.
